My own Radio Show segment on Radio Al-Balad 92.4 FM

I will be starting my own radio show segments by the beginning of 2009, where I'd be talking about the Jordanian Radio-sphere on weekly basis! Covering all the latest in the Jordanian radio scene, frequency updates, coverages, and what's hot and what's not on the Jordanian radio stations regardless of their genre and orientation.

The segments, will be weekly episodes as part of the radio show called: "Eye on Media", on Radio Al-Balad 92.4 FM, the 1st Jordanian Community Radio. Airing every Monday at 11 AM, and replayed Wednesdays at 4 PM..And will be also available as a podcast and a text-based format each and every week.

This weekly segment is fully prepared and cooked by yours truly, independently from any radio station, including Radio Al-Balad it self (this is how a real community radio should be after all!). As you most probably got used to my style on my blog, i will publish anything, rationally, independently, neutrally and clearly, based as much as possible on facts rather than personal opinions. And will make sure this will be my methodology while preparing this weekly segment. And i hope you'd feel free to accept any positive criticism, and feel free to comment on Absolutely anything! and feed the segment with what you listen on the radio right away to the email address: radio@ammannet.net

For the 1st upcoming episode, i will be reviewing the reactions on the jordanian radio stations regarding the Gaza crisis.

Bloggers on air!

Radio Al-Balad and ammannet.net have announced the launch of "Bloggers on Air" (مدونون على الهواء), a project and initiative oriented for improving video blogging.

The project will train 25 individuals on how to blog and vblog, and then create a blog for each and every one of them. and a video cam for 20 of them. and accordingly start a radio show that will tackle what they would be blogging!

Invitation to a bloggers meeting with Radio Al-Balad

I just got an e-mail from Daoud Kuttab, chief of Radio Al-Balad (a.k.a AmmanNet)... that they at Radio al-Balad are holding a call it "blogger gathering" within their station, tomorrow, Monday the 24th, at 6:00 PM @ Radio Al-Balad (Wadi Saqra St - Opposite to Astra Center).

I forwarded the email for those who i have their emails, I thought this might be the best way to get through to the others :)

Radio Guide Update: Radio Al-Balad can now be reached in and northern and western Amman

Finally, Radio Al-Balad (Previously Ammannet), on 92.4 FM can now be reached in more regions of the capital. mainly in western and northern Amman were its transmission was almost non-existent.

The new re-branding of Ammannet to Radio Al-Balad, has led to a variety of new good changes and new shows, and the best change is that now i can get to hear this radio station at home.

Apparently, there is someone who took into consideration my long list of recommendations. Hope some other stations would act accordingly as well.

UPDATE 15-2-2008: Seems this status didnt last that much, as the transmission coverage of the station got worse than ever in the last couple of day!!!
According to some on-field transmission power testing that i did this evening, the transmission power did not exceed 0-20% in most of amman's areas, even near the station in Wadi Saqra street, and in Rabieh where the station's antenna is located!

UPDATE 11-3-2008: Finally, the station is back to be well heard on the airwaves. with the new improved coverage.

Radio Guide Update: Radio Amman Net is now Radio Al-Balad

Radio Amman Net 92.4 FM has turned officially today to its new brand, which is, Radio Al-Balad.

Finally, the station will have a better identity, rather than the previous one which was inherited ever since the station was turned to a community FM station from an online radio. and removing the confusion caused with Radio Amman FM, the state owned radio station transmitting on 99.0 FM in Amman.

I hope the change of the name would be associated with improvements as well in the quality of the programs, as well as the FM transmission and coverage.

Radio Guide Update: Radio Amman Net 92.4 FM

A new Station starting on 92.4 FM (yup, another bad frequency gap, only 0.4 Mhz to Mood FM's 92.0 FM) , anyway, the station of course is transmitting in the capital on this wave & It's called (Sout Al- Mojtama3) Radio Amman-Net ... that is “Voice of Society” in English, & It is the FM station Radio Amman-net announced earlier this year it will be releasing. The station is still in it's very beginning of Soft opening, it will be a Public Service Radio,, as Radio Amman Net was & still on the Internet, a PR FINALLY!!

I hope it's soft Opening wont last forever like some Arabic stations that are on the airwaves since 3-4 months now & still not announcing their name on air even! just playing non stop music all the time without any action! nor even Jingles to promote their selves ! just Tune-in to 97.1 & 99.9 for 2 hours each & try to figure out their names!!!! U wont if u haven't check my Radio Guide !! like if their owners payed the license money, bought all those transmission stuff & forgot all about it!

I’m sure Amman Net won’t go that way, it’s already "ON" for several years thru the internet & Finally we’re having Amman Net FM.
