The Biggest Xmas tree in Europe

The biggest Xmas tree in europe this year happened to be a romanian one :)
after over a month and a half of hard work, it was upthere, 76 M high, 2 million lights ,,, and loads of other millions around Bucharest made from the romanian capital a European Christmas jewel :)

300 workers, Romanians, Portuguese and Brazilians worked for one month and a half for realizing the biggest Christmas tree in Europe. Having 7th floors, 76 meters height and 300 tones, the huge tree lights up the Unirii Square with its over 2 millions lightings. Christmas_Tree_in_Bucharest.jpg The inauguration of the Christmas tree gathered over 70.000 people in the heart of Bucharest and caused many traffic jams. But the people are proud of having the highest Christmas Tree from Europe in their city.

BUCHAREST (Reuters) - Romanians rejected an attempt by parliament to impeach reformist President Traian Basescu in the Saturday referendum, official results showed on Sunday, giving fresh support to his anti-sleaze campaign.


Data collected from 92 percent of the polling stations showed 74 percent of Romanians voted against impeaching Basescu on charges that he overstepped his authority.

Basescu, the country's most popular politician, got 5.6 million votes in the referendum, half a million more than in the 2004 elections when he defeated ex-prime minister Adrian Nastase on an anti-graft ticket.

Traian Basescu the romanian president has been suspended by the romanian parliament (which is even worse than the jordanian parliament) earlier last week.... simply because those parliament members are not liking the fact that basescu's war against corruption is coming against their businesses. that is including members of the government it self!

as a voter for basescu, I will vote for him again in the referendum for refusing his suspendation, and yet again in the upcoming election.

Martsishor, Celebrating Spring and Women in Romania

It's the 1st of March, and in many cultures and civilizations, those past ones and many still-existing ones, this day was meant to represent the beginning of Spring, and the bloom of a new life for a new year.

In the Romanian tradition, from which i inherit half of my blood and soul, the 1st of March is the “Martsishor” day, the day of celebrating Spring and Women.

In the Martsishor day, (originally from “Martie”, that is, March in english. Hence, Martsishor explicitly means in English “Lil' March”), Women are rewarded with flowers and “Martsishors” for being the symbol of beauty and bloom of this life, celebrating their spring blush for a new beginning.

Martsishors, the things that women are rewarded with in this day, are small funky handmade badges, that men give to the women that he loves and and respect. Those badges consist mainly of Red and White fabrics and filaments (Yeah, The Dacia nation figured the beauty of Red and White together before you Roba ;) along with different sorts of small stuff!!!
