So Jafar is closed for business, what happened to the inmates? that's the question that matters. You can torture someon in Jafar or in Abdoun.
When Khayam detention camp, in south lebanon, was shutdown, it was after the Israelis and their mercenaries, the SLA, were thrown out of Lebanon.
When the french Pastille was shutdown, it was after the people declared victory over tyranny.
What prompted the closure of Jafar? Business priorities? Consolidation of detention centers for more cost effective repression? Relocation to a better repression facilities where torturers have access to ADSL?
Closure of Jafar is a cheap PR stunt if it's not accompanied by tangible improvements in human right protections and enforcement of anti-repression and anti-torture laws. Hell if the elected MPs have torturing reporters in the open (some call it a fist fight, but it was use of physical violence for political ends) why expect the regime to do any better.
